CHARLOTTESVILLE–The Charlottesville Cardinals wheelchair basketball team moved up from 7th to 5th in the latest National Wheelchair Basketball Association D3 Top Twenty Power Rankings today.
The Cardinals notched two wins this past Saturday against the Fayetteville (NC) Flyers, winning the first game, 60-33, and the second match, 69-28.
In the first game, Charlottesville took a 28-20 halftime lead before posting a 32-13 margin in the second half for the 60-33 win. The Cardinals’ Arthur Tracy led all scorers with 18 points, followed by Josiah Knight with 13, Brandon Rush with 11, and Cor’Rales Dupree with 10. The Flyers’ Tee Foster had 16 points.
Game followed the same pattern, with the Cardinals leading by 11 point, 26-15 at halftime. The Charlottesville pressing defense broke the game open in the second half as the Cardinals outscored the Flyers 43-13 to produce the 69-28 victory. Josiah Knight led all scorers with 25 points, followed by Cor’Rales Dupree with 23 as the Cardinals dominated the lane. Tee Foster again led Flyers scorers with 20 points.
The Cardinals will be back in the gym for practice this Sunday, February 4th at Carver Recreation Center.
