Charlottesville Cardinals Seeded #6 In National Championship “Sweet Sixteen” Competition

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA—The Charlottesville Cardinals wheelchair basketball team earned the #6 seed in Division 3 of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association’  national championship tournament in Richmond, VA to be played from April 12th through April 14th.

 

The Cardinals will face the #11 Tampa Bay Strong Dogs at noon on Friday, April 12th at the newly constructed Henrico Sports and Events Center.  The tournament games will be livestreamed here https://www.nwbaadults.masbroadcast.com/ throughout the three-day event.

 

Charlottesville finished its regular season with a 14-3 record in Division 3. Despite two early season losses, the Cardinals then went 12-1 and posted a ten-game D3 winning streak to end the regular season and head into the national championship competition.

 

In addition to Charlottesville, three other Virginia wheelchair basketball teams will also be competing in Richmond: the Division 2 Sportable Richmond Rimriders (#12), and the Division 3 Virginia Sunwheelers (#12) and the Harrisonburg Cardinals (#16).  The Division 1 NRH Punishers (#2, Washington, DC) will also be competing.
