CHARLOTTESVILLE–The Charlottesville Cardinals wheelchair basketball team is headed to Orlando for a six-team tournament this weekend.
The 15th-ranked Cardinals will have their hands full in the midst of a tournament field that features the 3rd-ranked RHI Indianapolis Pacers, the 5th-ranked Orlando Magic, the 7th-ranked Atlanta Shepherd Stealers, the 8th-ranked Las Vegas Silver Bandits, and the 22nd-ranked Charlotte Rollin’ Bobcats.
With several players unavailable due to work and school commitments, and injury and illness, the Cardinals will be taking only five players to Florida for the competition.
“Not much need to contemplate potential line-ups this weekend,” said coach Tom Vandever. “The bad news is we’ll be very, very thin–let’s hope nobody fouls out. The good news is…well…we’re going to play in sunny Florida in February! ”
The Cardinals will immediate head to Philadelphia the following weekend for the Carousel House tournament there.
