LOUISVILLE, KY–The 16th-ranked Charlottesville Cardinals wheelchair basketball team stumbled against the 12th-ranked Chicago Wheelchair Bulls today at the national championship tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, falling to the Bulls 61-48.

The tall Chicago front line played very aggressively and took advantage of a number of offensive rebounds to stake a 32-20 halftime advantage.

The Charlottesville offense continued to be anemic and failed to break the 50-point line for the second game in a row.

Mike Looney led Cardinals’ scorers with 14 points, followed by Andrea Woodson-Smith and Arthur Tracy with 8 points each, Tom Vandever with 6, and Cort Thomas, Chris Robinson, and Brandon Rush all with 4 points each.  The Bulls David Radbel led all scorers with 20 points.

The Cardinals are now 0-3 at the tournament and will face the 11th-ranked Atlanta Shepherd Stealers at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.

“We started our season against Shepherd and we’re going to end it against them,” said player-coach Tom Vandever.

In the Final Four match ups on Saturday, #1 Dallas Movin’ Mavericks will face the #5 Orlando Magic, while the #2 New York Rollin’ Knicks with face the #3 Milwaukee Wheelchair Bucks.  The championship game is on Sunday.
