ALBUQUERQUE–The 13th-ranked Charlottesville Cardinals wheelchair basketball team wrapped up their weekend in New Mexico with a 75-45 victory over the Denver Rolling Nuggets.
The Cardinals finish the tournament with a 3-1 record.
A very scrappy Denver squad stayed close to Cardinals through most of the first half, trailing by only nine points, 33-24, at the break, but the Cardinals inexorable stretched their lead throughout the second half to claim a solid 75-45 win.
Arthur Tracy and David Wilkes led Charlottesville scorers with 16 points each, followed by Andrea Woodson-Smith with 14, Brandon Rush with 10, Eddie Wimbish with 7, and Jeremy Smith and Chris Robinson with 6 apiece.
The Cardinals head back to Virginia with a season record of 14-6 (7-5 in the NWBA Championship Division).
The Cardinals next take the floor on Saturday, January 24th in a doubleheader against the Richmond Rimriders at Goochland High School. Games start at noon.
