The Charlottesville Cardinals wheelchair basketball team heads for Atlanta this weekend to compete in the Shepherd Shootout Tournament.
The 14th-ranked Cardinals will tangle with the 3rd-ranked Orlando Magic squad and the the 8th-ranked host team, the Shepherd Stealers. The 16th-ranked Charlotte Rollin’ Bobcats will also be competing along with both the men’s and women’s teams from the University of Alabama.
The 3-0 Cardinals will open the tournament on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against the University of Alabama women’s squad. The Alabama women are back-to-back national champions and their squad features several international star players. In their second game, Charlottesville will face Orlando at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning before moving to the elimination rounds of the tournament.
