Cardinals Slip Slightly In Latest National Rankings

Feb 19, 2014

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO–The National Wheelchair Basketball Association announced their Top Twenty national rankings for February today.

The Dallas Movin’ Mavericks maintained their hold on the number one ranking, but the New York Rollin’ Knicks jumped to the #2 ranking after knocking off the previous #2 Milwaukee Bucks three times.  Both the Mavericks and the Knicks remain undefeated in Championship Division play.

The Charlottesville Cardinals managed to stay in the “Sweet Sixteen” despite dropping one spot from 14th to 15th.

“Staying in the top sixteen rankings should ensure a bid to the national tournament in Louisville in April,” said player-coach Tom Vandever.  “The Sweet Sixteen will duke it out in Louisville and we’ll have a couple of opportunities to improve our seeding before then.”

The Cardinals travel to Orlando this weekend where they will face the #2 New York Rollin’ Knicks, the #6 Austin Rec’ers, the #11 Orlando Magic, the #12 Atlanta Shepherd Stealers, and the #14 Chicago RIC Hornets.

“Nothing like having your work cut out for you,” said Vandever.
