Charlottesville Cardinals Move Up In Latest National Poll

Jan 7, 2015

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO–The National Wheelchair Basketball Association released its latest Top Twenty rankings today and the Charlottesville Cardinals moved up three slots–from 16th to 13th.

The Dallas Movin’ Mavericks remained ranked at #1.

“We’re pleased to have moved up in the rankings,” said Cardinals’ player-coach Tom Vandever, “but the rankings are very fluid right now as more teams are playing in tournaments and are evaluated.  We’ll have to prove ourselves.”

Charlottesville recently added two transfer players, David Wilkes and Allen Champagne, who should contribute additional speed, rebounding, and shooting to the Cardinals’ arsenal.

The 13th-ranked Cardinals travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 16th where they will face the host #15 Albuquerque Kings, the #12 Seattle Sonics , the #8 University of Arizona Wildcats, and the unranked Oklahoma City Chargers.

“This tournament will be a good test for us,” said Vandever.
