RICHMOND, VA–The Charlottesville Cardinals wheelchair basketball team was featured in the Virginia Inaugural Ceremony and Parade at the State Capitol Building this past Saturday, January 13, 2018.

The Cardinals are the first, and only, wheelchair basketball team to have been included in a Virginia Inaugural Ceremony, and were recognized for their role as “ambassadors who educate the general public about the abilities of people with disabilities through competitions, performances, and demonstrations.”

“We were deeply honored by our inclusion in the inaugural event,” said player-coach Tom Vandever.  “We look forward to continuing our advocacy and education activities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
