CHARLOTTESVILLE–The annual Herman Key, Jr. Memorial Holiday wheelchair basketball tournament schedule, which began yesterday, has been adjusted as inclement weather approaches central Virginia.
The tournament, originally planned to span three days has been curtailed and will conclude Saturday night. The original 22 game schedule has been reduced to 17 games.
In Friday night’s round-robin action, the New York Rollin’ Knicks dispatched the host Charlottesville Cardinals, the Pennsylvania Keystone Royals edged the Atlanta Shepherd Stealers, and the Philadelphia Magee Spokesmen knocked off the Washington, DC NRH Ambassadors by one-point and then defeated the Richmond Rimriders in overtime.
Action resumes Saturday morning with games at Burley Middle School and at Covenant Church. The semi-final rounds begin at 4:00 p.m. with the championship game slated for 8:30 p.m. at Burley.
