New Season Heating Up

Aug 28, 2012

As the Cardinals move into September things are starting to heat up for the 2012-13 basketball season.  Our team will transition from our summer workout schedule to more focused practice sessions in September and October, and we’ll start competing in late October and November.  Our team starts the season ranked 14th in the country.

Our tentative season schedule is now posted on our website in the schedule section (http://cardinalsbasketball.com/?page_id=11).

We’re welcoming back veteran Chris Robinson who played professionally for the Strasbourg, France team last year, and we’re also happy to welcome new player Jason Cook to the team!  Jason is an engineering student at Virginia Tech and is a very promising rookie!

A small group of Cardinals (Brandon Rush, Chris Robinson, Eddie Wimbish, Arthur Tracy, Tom Vandever, and special guest Dan Altan) will travel to Houston this Labor Day weekend for the pre-season Texas International Shootout.  The tournament will feature 11 teams and three days of competition.  Should be fun!

Also, this Thursday (8/30) the Paralympics begin in London.  The Paralympics are always held in the same venue as the Olympics two weeks following the conclusion of the Olympics.  Both our US Men’s and Women’s wheelchair basketball squads are considered medal contenders and we’ll be cheering for them.  The games will be streamed online and if you want to check it out the schedule and times are listed below.
