COLORADO SPRINGS,CO–The National Wheelchair Basketball Association released its pre-season rankings for all adult divisions and named the Charlottesville Cardinals #9 in Division II.
Other Virginia teams claiming top twenty rankings were the Harrisonburg (VA) Cardinals with a #12 ranking in Division III and the Sportable Richmond Rimriders at #12 in Division II.
In Division I the defending national champion Dallas Movin’ Mavericks held the #1 slot. In Division II the Miami Valley (OH) Raptors gained the #1 ranking followed by the #2 San Antonio Parasport Spurs. The TIRR Houston Hotwheels claimed the #1 ranking in Division III.
The 1-1 Cardinals will take the court again at the NWBA/Sportable National Invitational Tournament on October 20-22, 2017 at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. The #9 Cardinals will face off on Friday, October 20th against the #2 San Antonio team, and then take on the #3 Nassau (NY) squad and the #10 Philadelphia Magee Spokesmen on Saturday. The tournament also features the #8 Charlotte Bobcats, the #12 Richmond Rimriders, the Fayetteville (NC) Flyers, and the Delaware Destroyers.
